Frequently Asked Questions

How do I see one of the chaplains?

A chaplain is available in the Hospice most days or one can be contacted for you through another member of staff.

Do you have to be a church-goer to see a chaplain?

No, not at all. We are happy to see any one of any faith or no faith at all.

I always go to church on Sunday, but this Sunday I'm going to be in the In-Patient Unit. Do you hold any Sunday services?

There is a service of worship most Sundays around 11 am at the Nurses’ Station in the In-Patient Unit. The service is for patients and their families if they would like to participate. Sometimes the staff and volunteers join us too.

Is St.Rocco’s just for people from a Christian background?

No. St.Rocco’s may be named after a Christian saint, but it exists for the benefit of the whole community of Warrington.

What provision is there for people of other faiths?

The chaplains will always ask patients about their religious preferences. This helps them to ensure they are offering patients the right kind help. When a patient expresses a commitment to a faith other than Christianity, the chaplains will ensure that those beliefs are respected at all times during a patient’s time with us. The Hospice has contact with the main religious groups in Warrington to ensure that patients of other faiths are well provided for. We also have a prayer room where patients and their guests are welcome to pray. Washing facilities for religious preparation are close by.
