Day Hospice

Day Hospice Services are available to any person who has a diagnosis of cancer or life threatening disease. We are able to provide support at any stage for those affected and also for their carers.

The philosophy of our Day Hospice is to help our patients, and
their carers, to live life to the full. We believe in offering a safe
and caring environment in which specialist palliative care
encourages and enhances our patients' well being.

Services are accessed via referral from the GP, Macmillan or District Nurse, or patients are welcome to contact us directly on: 01925 575780.

Attendance at the Day Hospice is reviewed on a regular basis by the Hospice Team and recommendations for further visits or discharge are agreed.

Day Care
This service is available to those people who have specialist palliative care needs. Patients attending Day Therapy will be assessed by the Hospice Team which includes specialist nurses, doctors, social workers, a physiotherapist and an occupational therapist. Therapy is available Monday to Friday 10 am -3 pm.

Family Support
Family Support services provide emotional and practical support to patients, their families and carers and can be accessed via the Day Hospice

Medication
Patients are advised to bring any medication they may need during the day, and details of any changes in medication. Whilst attending Day Hospice patients are still under the care of their General Practitioner; however they will have access to advice from the Hospice Doctors. Should our Hospice Doctors feel that changes in medication are needed they will contact the GP.

Transport
Ideally, patients or their relatives or carers should provide transport to and from Day Hospice. However, if this proves difficult, the Hospice will endeavour to meet transport needs.

their main carers. Complementary TherapistA course of 6-8 treatments of the therapy of choice can be arranged on referral.
