David & Glen are on Track Running for Rocco’s

Not content with just one challenge, David and Glen have set themselves 3 major running challenges in support of St. Rocco’s this year.

They intend to complete not just the Manchester Marathon, but the Great Manchester Run and the English Half Marathon in Warrington as well.

On top of this it will be the fourth consecutive Manchester Marathon that the pair have tackled together. So what keeps them going?

“We want to continue to support the fantastic work of St. Rocco’s,” explains Glen. “We had first-hand experience of this during the time my Mum was being cared for there. We feel very passionate about what a positive experience the staff provided for Mum and the family at such a devastating time.

All of the doctors, nursing staff and volunteers were amazing and very supportive, so we want to give something back.”

It is this that motivates them for the long hours of training, getting up early on the cold, frosty mornings and keeping them to their schedule to make the Manchester Marathon in time for April.

“By wearing a St. Rocco’s running vest we’re raising awareness for the hospice and it’s great to hear the crowds cheering you on when they see you are running for such a great cause. We’d really appreciate people coming to support us when the going gets tough.”

The pair say that this is usually between 20 and 23 miles in the marathon, so they would be thrilled to hear anyone cheering for them on the Altrincham section of the Manchester event on 2nd April.

If you can’t make it on the day, David and Glen would love you to sponsor them.

“We want to carry on inspiring people to support the work of St. Rocco’s. It’s a special place and we’re proud to champion it.”
