“I have always supported St. Rocco’s because of the amazing work of every single member of staff. St. Rocco’s looked after my grandad in his final days and I couldn't be more grateful for the amazing treatment and support shown to him and all of us. The compassion shown and the laughs we had with the nurses will stay with me forever. Especially ‘Billy the bird’ who visited the bird table outside my grandad’s room - my grandad was also known as Billy.”
Kayleigh will be experiencing the very special atmosphere of Starlight for the first time when around a thousand ladies take to the streets of Warrington at midnight on Saturday 24th June. Their aim is to raise much-needed funds to support patient care at St. Rocco’s, a registered charity which relies on over 70% of its income being raised through the generosity of the local community.
Walking in step with Kayleigh will be her mum Vicki, her other main reason for walking.
“During her fight with breast cancer Mum was able to have some complementary therapy sessions at St. Rocco’s. This really helped her along on her journey, and made her feel that bit better about herself, even though she was the most positive person I've ever seen going through that! “
Kayleigh came to pick up her walker’s pack during our Vitality Centre Celebration event at the beginning of May. She got a glimpse first hand of what kinds of things her Starlight sponsorship will help to support when she took a peek into the room we had set up showing the costs of some of our equipment.
“My eyes were opened with the room that showed just how much each piece of equipment costs. I understand how vital it all is. It hit home to me and made me want to raise even more, so that St. Rocco’s can continue to provide an amazing service and put families’ minds at rest knowing their loved ones are receiving such high quality care.
We honestly can't thank St. Rocco’s enough for everything and will continue to show our support and raise as much money as we can for them. Can't wait for the walk!”
