Participants of all ages ran, walked, jogged and even hoola-hooped their way round the 3km course, going from white to multi-coloured as they were covered in powdered paint, all to raise funds to support patient care at St. Rocco’s. This year the colour stations were kindly sponsored by Walker Begley Chartered Accountants, McDonalds and Adel Carr Financial Recruitment.

Fortunately, and unusually for a Bank Holiday, the sun shone and there was a great atmosphere as everyone got into the party mood with tunes from Chris O’Grady and took part in a mass warm-up led by Gill Tasker from Clubbercise Warrington. Snoutwood Trotters were also on hand for refreshments before and after the run.

Before the off Pam Massey, Chief Executive Officer at St. Rocco’s thanked everyone for taking part and also the army of volunteers, without whom the event couldn’t take place.  Then the colour was released and everyone was off, among them outgoing Chair of Trustees at St. Rocco’s, Norman Banner and his son, along with fellow trustees, Roger Preece, Archdeacon of Warrington and Dr Catherine Walshe, Senior Lecturer in Palliative Care in the International Observatory on End of Life Care at Lancaster University.

Lauren Tilston, Fundraising Manager at St. Rocco’s said, “The Colour Run is such a fun event for young and old alike and a great way for people to raise vital funds so that we can continue to care for our patients and families.  Only 22% of our funding comes from central sources and so the sponsorship that is generated by those taking part in events like these really does make a huge difference. Last year Colour Run raised £25,000 and we really hope that will be the case again.”
