St. Rocco’s Shop Makes a Fashion Statement with WI

It was St. Rocco’s Lymm shop to the rescue for Heatley WI after they were unfortunately let down by the original shop which was lined up to provide outfits for a fashion show at their monthly meeting.

Fortunately, with a new-look premises by the Lower Dam in Lymm and a large range of good quality ladies clothing and accessories to showcase, the shop volunteers at Lymm were able to step into the breach.

The models, with ages ranging from forties right up to nineties, were members from Heatley WI and the evening was very entertainingly compered by long-standing WI member Jean Higgins.

“We’ve never done anything like this before,” said Betty Hughes, Volunteer Link Manager at St. Rocco’s, Lymm, “but we were very happy to help. We invited those ladies who were modelling to the shop to select outfits. I think they were quite surprised at the amount of choice they had and how many of our donated items are brand new with their original tickets still attached. It was a most enjoyable evening and a success for both parties.”

Members and guests in the audience also seemed impressed, with many making purchases at the end of the show. Margaret Sharp, President of Heatley WI, was also very pleased with the outcome.

“The volunteer staff at the new St. Rocco’s shop were incredibly supportive and £325-00 was raised to support patient care at the hospice. I felt it was a true community effort for a very worthwhile community charity.”

St. Rocco’s has nine shops in the Warrington area and we always welcome donations of clothing or other items in good condition. Details of opening times and locations.
