For St, Rocco’s Will Week 2018 we are fortunate to have the support of even more solicitors who who will work with you to create your will in return for a donation to St. Rocco’s instead of their usual fee. This year FDR Law, Fiona Bruce, Dootsons, Watsons, Bell Lamb & Joyson, HCB Solicitors and Steels will all be offering appointments.

We caught up with Nikki Tommy from Steels a long established local firm based in Warrington and Stockton Heath, who explained just why making a Will is so important and why seeking expert advice can really help.

“If you have a Wil it means that whatever you have to leave will go exactly where you want it to go when you die. There are quite a few myths that surround making a Will and I feel that a discussion with people is an important part of helping people to understand why things need to be done in a certain way, what a Will will actually do and the things it can cover.”

Nikki says that you also need to consider how your circumstances might change in the future and try to create a will accordingly.

“By talking through changes that might occur in the future we can help clients to draw up a Will that will have a longer shelf life. This is why, for me, it is so important to talk things through with clients, find out what it is that they need from a Will and make sure that they understand it fully once it is drawn up.”

Nikki points out that if you have no Will then you have no guarantees that your money will go to the people or places you would like. So, even if you wanted to leave a gift to your favourite charity for example, without a Will you won’t be able to do so. At St. Rocco’s one in eight patients is supported by the generosity of those who have left a gift in their Will.

Nikki understands the peace of mind people gain once they have made a Will. She is one of two solicitors who is asked to visit clients in St. Rocco’s who have asked for someone to help put their affairs in order. She also has personal experience of the care that St. Rocco’s provides.

“I had a very close personal friend who was looked after in St. Rocco’s about eighteen months ago. When I went to visit her I could see what the staff do and how well they care for everyone, including friends and family. St. Rocco’s is not miles away, it’s right here in the midst of our community. When my friend was ill I didn’t have to travel miles away, she was being cared for right here. It is local and tangible and we’re really fortunate to have it. That is one reason why, as a long-standing Warrington firm, we are pleased to support St. Rocco’s Will Week; it gives us a chance to give something back to our local community.

St. Rocco’s Will Week runs from 14-18th May. Find out how to make an appointment with one of our participating solicitors or call Tracy Barnes on 01925 575780.

Thank you to FDR Law, Fiona Bruce, Dootsons, Watsons, Bell Lamb & Joyson, HCB Solicitors and Steels for supporting Will Week 2018.
