How Jean helps to make St. Rocco's a special place

Our patients and their families are at the heart of everything that we do here at St. Rocco’s, but it takes a whole team of people to ensure that they have the best possible care.

Jean originally came to St. Rocco’s as a volunteer, but for the past eight years she has been part of our Domestic team. She spoke to us about why she enjoys her work and why thinks that St. Rocco’s is a special place.

“Although I work part time, I find my job incredibly rewarding. I get to meet and talk with staff from every department including the doctors, nurses, office staff and the catering staff. I have always found it a very friendly and caring place to work.

I especially enjoy meeting and speaking with the patients and their families. I take pride and pleasure in keeping their rooms clean and tidy, as I think and hope that this helps with everyone’s stay whilst they are with us. I hope that it makes it just a little bit easier and more pleasurable for everyone.

Before I came to work at St. Rocco’s, I always thought that it  must be a very sad place to be and to work, but ever since the first day that I started to work here I can honestly say that that idea could not be further from the truth.

In all my years of employment I have never known such a caring and supporting place to visit, whether working here or for the patients who maybe spending a few nigts here, or as a visitor to our Vitality Centre. Every one of the staff here is so supportive and helpful; it makes it so much more cheerful and happy for everyone involved.

St. Rocco’s does such a wonderful job caring for people in Warrington and the surrounding areas. To do this it has to rely heavily on funding from donations, charity events and collections from the local community so that we can carry on looking after people. It is such a special place, I hope that everyone will continue to help us to do that in the future.”
