This is exactly what Pam Evans’s family will be doing on Bank Holiday Monday. Thinking of ways to celebrate his 40^th birthday, her son Ross came up with the idea of his family joining in the bright and bubbly 3K run at Walton Hall as a fun activity that all the family could do together.

Pam will be taking part with Ross’s family Lisa, Olivia and Kayleigh. They will be cheered on by Pam’s daughter Karen Waslin, her husband Rob and 3 year old daughter, Arwen. They are all looking forward to it but the family also have another special reason for taking part.

“We hold St. Rocco’s very dear to our hearts,” explains Pam, a former volunteer at St. Rocco’s.

“In September 2015 my husband Les came into the hospice to spend his last few days there. He was cared for by such amazing people and it made this time so much easier for our family and friends, who were welcome at any time. Even our youngest granddaughter Arwen, only a few weeks old, visited every day and we knew she was welcome.”

After Les passed away the whole family were involved in raising funds for St. Rocco’s. Granddaughters Olivia, 10, Kayleigh, 8 and Arwen, 4 months at the time took part in the Children’s Lantern Walk in October in memory of Grandad Les and Olivia also held a cake sale at school.

“The staff made such a fuss of them and made them feel so special when we came to the hospice to pass the money over “, says Pam.

In all the family, along with Lowri Back, Les’s employer, raised over £4,000 to support patient care at St. Rocco’s.

Pam says, “We haven’t set ourselves a target for the Colour Bubble Fun Run. We just want to raise as much as possible for a very good cause and have lots of fun.”
