Join us for our annual Ladies' Lunch, 'Out of Africa'.
No support team, no safety nets, no get-out clauses and nothing to fall back on’
Our speaker, Fran Sandham will be recounting his experiences taking on the challenge of a lifetime, by walking completely alone across Africa from the Atlantic Ocean on Namibia's Skeleton Coast in the west to the Indian Ocean near Zanzibar in the East.
Fran, a critically acclaimed author, divides his time between writing, public speaking and travel. A former editor at Rough Guides, he has travelled in over fifty countries. He has written for newspapers and magazines including The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Observer and The Financial Times.
His book Traversa: A solo walk across Africa received terrific reviews on both sides of the Atlantic and was serialised in the Sunday Times.
‘a natural storyteller with a big taste for adventure. A great guest who had us all captivated'
'Fran took us on a fearless, lively and entertaining walk across a continent reminding us that perhaps we could all spend more time enjoying the journey, and less time worrying about the destination.'
It's a fantastic opportunity to get the girls together for a great afternoon. Enjoy a welcome drink on arrival, then browse a variety of stalls selling fabulous accessories, gifts, clothing, crafts, and even artisan foods ready for Christmas!
Relax in the beautiful settings of Statham Lodge Hotel for a 3 course meal, followed by Fran's speech.
As well as having fun with friends, the Ladies Lunch is an enjoyable way to support patient care at St. Rocco’s Hospice and help us to look after those who need us in the Warrington area for many years to come – so the more the merrier!
It costs over £3.6million a year to run St. Rocco's. As a registered charity over 70% of our funding is generated by the local community which means we're able to provide free care for the people of Warrington with a life-limiting illness as well as support for their families.
Tickets are just £40 per person or £380 for a table of 10.
