Arley is signposted from Junction 9/10 on the M56 and junction 19/20 on the M6. Follow the brown tourist signs.

On arrival, please follow event signs and marshals who will direct you to event parking.

What time does the walk begin, and how long does it take?

Event opens at 4:30pm where you will be able to register then enjoy entertainment and refreshments before the walk.

Walk starts at 6pm

Please note, we will be operating a staggered start to the walk, so you may start a little after 6pm

It takes on average 10 to 12 minutes to walk 1 km. You can therefore expect 5 km to take approximately 50-60 minutes.

Will there be refreshments?

There will be several vendors on the start/finish line area, so please bring cash with you.

What do I wear?

Please dress according to the weather conditions on the day. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing and trainers. It is a condition of entry that you wear your Sunset Walk t-shirt and attach your walker number to the front. Please complete the medical information on the reverse of your walker number before the day. You may like to wear a top underneath your t-shirt for warmth.

Can I purchase merchandise?

Yes, you can purchase merchandise before the day at the T-Shirt collection days or on the night.

What should I bring with me on the day?

We anticipate that you will finish the walk as it is starting to go dark, however we recommend that you bring a head or hand torch with you as there is no lighting on the route.

You may like to bring your own water bottle. Water will be available for you to pick up at the start or along the route.

Will there be toilets on the route?

There will be toilets on the start/finish line area and at places along the route.

Is the route suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs?

Due to the terrain, the route is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs.

Are dogs allowed on the walk?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your dog. However, they must be kept on lead at all times.

What are you doing to make the event COVID safe?

The safety of event participants, volunteers and staff is of utmost importance, so a number of measures will be implemented. Some of which include operating a staggered start to the walk, providing sanitising stations and encouraging social distancing. We will regularly monitor the latest government guidance.

Will there be photos taken at the event?

A photographer will be present at the event and your photos may be published on the St. Rocco's website, social media channels and wider media outlets. You must inform St. Rocco's Hospice if you would not like your photos to be used.


I'm unable to take part in the walk, can I transfer my place to someone else?


It is not possible to transfer your place to another walker. If you are unable to walk, please let us know as soon as possible.

When is the latest I can register?

Registration will be open until midnight on Thursday 9th September. Please note, it will not be possible to register on the day, so please sign up before the above date.

When will I receive my T-Shirt?

You will be able to collect your pack from the Hospice on selected dates before the event. Please look out for these dates being emailed to you.


How much sponsorship should I raise?

Your registration fee only covers the cost of putting on the event, so we kindly ask that all participants raise as much as possible. The money you raise will go towards patient care here at St. Rocco’s and will ensure that we can continue to support all of our patients and their families, both within the Hospice and in the Warrington community.

How do I pay in my sponsorship money?

  1. Pop in to the Hospice with cash, card or cheque. We are open 9am-5pm weekdays and would love to say hello and hear how you found the walk! Our address is:

  2. Make a payment over the phone. Call the Supporter Care Team on 01925 575 780
  3. Send a cheque in the post (please do not send cash in the post). Made payable to 'St Rocco's Hospice' and don't forget to include a note with your name, address, walker number (if you have it) and team name (if you were part of a team). Send into the address above.
  4. If you have a Just Giving page. Your donations will come directly to us; you don't need to do anything! If you have offline donations as well, please send them to us using the above options.

Not collected sponsorship?

We know that asking for sponsorship is hard, especially if you are taking part in more than one St Rocco's event. If you have been unable to collect sponsorship, please consider making a personal donation.
