Hospice To Hospice Hike 2022

St. Rocco's fundraising team are very excited to tell you about a new event, the Hospice-to-Hospice Hike, taking place on Saturday 2nd July 2022.

Kindly sponsored by Motorpoint Widnes

This challenging event collaborates with East Cheshire Hospice, working jointly to reach individual Hospice fundraising goals.

The Hospice-to-Hospice Hike offers two challenges. The entire marathon hike, Hospice to Hospice or half a marathon hike starting at The Cottons Spa and Hotel, Knutsford and finishing at St. Rocco's. The Finishing point for all St. Rocco's participants will be at St. Rocco's Hospice.

Is this Event for me?

This event is open to persons aged 16 and above. If you are aged 16 or 17 then you must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or above. This Event will require a reasonable fitness level and training to reach the mileage chosen. The Hospice-to-Hospice hike is exceptionally challenging.

Fundraising for St. Rocco’s

St. Rocco’s Hospice depends on the support from the Warrington community to deliver its essential care.

We suggest all participants set a target to raise £250 in sponsorship to support the Hospice. Fundraising can be done individually or jointly with friends, family, or colleagues. Fundraising is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, set goals and get you across the finish line.

About the day

St. Rocco's team will welcome all hikers early Saturday morning. We will provide everyone with breakfast to set you up for your exhilarating hike challenge.

Following breakfast, you will be transported by coach to your start point. You will be provided with a map and directions to navigate the route. There will be marshals, checkpoints, water stations and toilets on the route. Finally, when you finish at St. Rocco's, your destination, you will receive an environmentally friendly medal to celebrate and remember your outstanding achievements.

We will be joined by Ian from IJL Sports Massage Therapy. Ian is a qualified sports massage therapist and is kindly giving up his time on the day to any walkers that would like to make use of his services in return for a donation to the hospice.

The Route

This epic hike takes you on a course that offers outstanding Cheshire countryside views. Passing through scenic villages, hamlets, Victorian engineering, and townscape.

The marathon hike leaves East Cheshire Hospice to walk through the historic winding streets of Macclesfield. Then passes through the Victorian Silk Town itself. As you move towards Henbury and Monk's Heath, the Capesthorne estate will be on your periphery. Followed by the incredible Peak District view as you pass through Chelford and Ollerton.

You will then pass the beautiful Lymm Dam, a great place to have a break and enjoy the scenery. Next, you will trail along the Trans Pennine Way and then the impressive Manchester ship canal, the River Mersey, as you get closer to the finish. Finally, you will encounter Warrington town centre before crossing the finish line at St. Rocco's.
