Volunteer In Our Furniture & Interiors Shop
Our Furniture and Interiors Shop on Mersey St sells a wide range of goods including beds and bedroom furniture, three piece suites, dining tables and chairs and large lounge room furniture. We are able to collect and deliver furniture to our supporters in the Warrington area.
Role of the Volunteer
Volunteer Shop Workers are part of a team who work in the shop on a rota, matched with tasks that best suit their experience.
Key tasks
You may be required:
- to receive and sort donated goods
- to prepare (including cleaning) and display donated goods.
- to serve customers and deal with queries
- to operate the till, which in Bridgefoot is an EPOS till with a gift aid system.
- to assist with cashing up
- to arrange window displays
- to keep the shop and back up areas tidy and clean
- to maintain awareness of Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) issues in the shop.
- to move furniture around the shop.
Skills and qualities required
- good communication skills
- honest and reliable
- understand and adhere to the Hospice’s confidentiality policy
- able to work as part of the Hospice team
- have a good level of fitness as heavy lifting is involved.
Support and supervision
Volunteer Shop Workers report to the Shop Manager, or his deputy, and are supported by the Voluntary Services Manager.
Training
Volunteers will undergo initial induction training and ongoing training in the role.
