The Hospice requires professional and enthusiastic Staff Nurses to work primarily in our In-Patient Unit. Please specify in your application your preferred working pattern / hours.
Various shift patterns and hours (Full & Part Time) are available for example:
Day Long Shift Typically:
- 07:15 to 20:15 (13 hours excluding 2 x 30min unpaid breaks = paid for 12hrs)
Short Shift Typically:
- 07:15 to 13:45 (6hr 30m excluding 30min unpaid break = paid for 6hrs)
- 13:45 to 20:15 (6hr 30m excluding 30min unpaid break = paid for 6hrs)
Night Shift Typically:
- 19:45 to 07:45 (12 hours excluding 2 x 30min unpaid breaks = paid for 11hrs)

These hours will be worked between Monday to Sunday, which will include days, nights, evenings and weekends, on a rota system to be notified by your line manager. These hours do not include a ½ hour unpaid meal break which you will be entitled to take if you work a shift lasting longer than 6 hours. You have a further ½ hour unpaid break when working on a 13 hour day shift or night shift to be taken at times to meet the needs of the Hospice. When working off site on hospice at home assignments these breaks are paid. You may be required to work additional hours to those published, as outlined above flexibility is required which may include split shifts.
Reporting to the Junior Sisters and Clinical Lead for IPU & Clinical Nurse Educator, the main purpose of this role is to provide the highest standard of physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for patients, their relatives and friends. You will use your expertise to the highest standards in order to meet all the requirements of our clinical governance.
Applicants must be on the NMC register and be fully qualified RGN / Adults with minimum 12 months post registration experience, preferably in palliative care. In addition to your proven clinical skills, we are looking for excellent communication skills, empathy and sensitivity, good team working and a flexible approach to the role.
Salary: £14.28 per hour which equates to £26,740.60 per annum if working 36hrs per week. Additional unsociable hour enhancements will be paid for weekend, night (8pm onwards) and bank holiday work - T&C’s apply.
The post is not a salary incremental post and pay reviews are at the discretion of the Hospice.
