Volunteer As A Car Driver
As a Volunteer Driver you will be part of a team of volunteers transporting patients to and from the Vitality Centre at the hospice using your own vehicle.
Key Tasks
To ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy
- It is important that you maintain regular checks on your vehicle and that before each journey a visual check is made on tyres, lights etc.
To collect Vitality Centre patients from their homes
- The Transport Co-ordinator will contact drivers each week to arrange pick ups and returns. The weekly rota will then be kept in the Vitality Centre. The Transport Co-ordinator will advise of any special instructions.
To return patients from Vitality Centre to their homes
- The Transport Co-ordinator will advise drivers of collection times. Drivers should report to the Vitality Centre Team Leader at collection time.
To reassure patients about their experience at the Hospice
- Patients may be apprehensive about attending the Vitality Centre, particularly those who are attending for the first time. A friendly reassuring manner will help to put them at their ease.
Support and Supervision
- Reports to the Vitality Centre Team Leaders and the Voluntary Services Manager.
