Could you use your skills and experience to benefit St. Rocco’s Hospice, a respected charity at the heart of the Warrington community?

Openness, integrity, honesty, selflessness – these are just some of the characteristics that we value at St. Rocco’s Hospice and we love to see in our trustees, our staff and our volunteers.

St. Rocco’s has been providing high quality, specialist palliative care to the people of Warrington since 1985. Our dedicated team comprises of staff and volunteers working together to provide the best possible care for our patients, both within the hospice and in the community. We place our patients and their families at the heart of everything we do.

We are a registered charity and our care provision is supported by generating income via our chain of shops in and around Warrington and through fundraising activities, including high profile events and a hospice lottery. We are fortunate to benefit from amazing support and generosity from the local community.

Our Board of Trustees, made up entirely of volunteers, supports the hospice to develop and thrive through well-rounded and carefully considered strategic decision-making for the benefit of our patients, both now and in the future. It is the Board of Trustees that is responsible for our overall governance and strategic direction.

Our Trustees:

  • work in close partnership with the Senior Management Team
  • support employees and volunteers, helping them to achieve our aims
  • assume guardianship of the legal and financial integrity of the organisation
  • act as ambassadors for the Hospice with key partners 

Ideally holding or having held a senior management position in an organisation in the public, private or voluntary/charitable sector, you will have excellent leadership skills, good independent judgement, political impartiality and the ability to think creatively within the context of the organisation and external environment.  You must be committed to St Rocco’s objectives and values and have the time to devote to your responsibilities.  Your other attributes will include: 

  • first-class communication and interpersonal skills
  • the ability to respect the confidences of colleagues
  • balancing tact and diplomacy with the willingness to challenge and criticise constructively
  • a good understanding of the particular demographics and needs of the Warrington area

Trustees serve for a three year term on our Board. The role of Trustee for St. Rocco’s Hospice is a voluntary role which requires a commitment of approximately two days a month. 

We are currently, but not exclusively, looking for individuals who have a focus in the following backgrounds: 

  • IT
  • Accountancy
  • Healthcare
  • GP
  • Social care
  • Commissioning experience
  • Faith

If your skills and experience lie in other areas, we would still welcome your application. Enthusiasm and passion about St. Rocco’s and the care that it provides are also important to us.
