Hospice care is more than you think. It’s more than beds and inpatient units. It’s more than medicine and medical equipment.
Hospice care is listening and comforting in the middle of the night. It’s providing courage to loved ones to support them through their journey. It’s compassion and caring for the whole family when they need it most.
And right now, it’s under threat.
We need your voice
As part of Hospice Care Week 2025, we are joining the national call to action to ask people to write to your MP to demand fairer funding for hospices across the country.
Hospices are on the brink. Surging costs mean that almost every month, another hospice faces the difficult decision to reduce services due to a lack of funding. And this comes just as demand is rising fast, because of our ageing population. It costs over £5m to run St. Rocco’s Hospice each year, yet only approximately a third of this comes from government funding.
What you can do
By writing to your MP, you will help put hospice funding on the political agenda. You can encourage your local MP to attend a Hospice UK event in parliament on 15 October in Westminster. And you can ask them to hear what St. Rocco’s Hospice needs to secure its future, care for more patients across Warrington, and support the NHS in delivering care.
It takes less than a minute to make your voice heard. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to care.
Visit the Hospice UK website to find out more, and use their simple tool to help you write to your local MP. All you need to do is fill in your details and Hospice UK will handle the rest.
