Caroline's fundraising journey began many years ago when she took part in the very first starlight and lantern walks In Aid of St. Rocco’s, and has since continued to help raise vital funds for hospice care in many ways.
Most recently Caroline, Sebastian,13 and Isabelle, 9 took part in the 2025 Neon Night Walk and having enjoyed it so much, the family are excited to be signing up to take part in the event again this September.
“Taking part in the event, with the children was great! It was so rewarding. We encouraged each other and kept each other going and were able to go at our own pace. With it being in the town centre, it was a great atmosphere, we got lots of cheers and support from passers-by and it felt like a real community event.”From a young age, Caroline wanted the children to be aware of the importance of supporting local charities like St. Rocco’s and the different ways that they can get involved. Not only does she fundraise through events, Caroline also regularly donates and shops preloved at our retail shops along with her family, has a collection box at her workplace and takes part in our weekly hospice lottery, where she has even won the £1000 prize.
“Now the children are older, once I explained about St. Rocco’s how we can fundraise at this event to support in raising money, they were excited to take part. They were keen to take their sponsorship forms into school and to start their fundraising. Getting the children involved and spreading awareness can only help encourage the next generation of fundraisers.”
Caroline and her family have a real passion for supporting local charities and helping people in their community and continue to support St. Rocco’s not by a direct connection, but because they know there is always someone, a family member, a friend, a colleague, who does and they recognise the difference that hospice care can make.
“You never know what’s around the corner and there are lots of people in our community who right now need palliative and hospice care. As a family we want to help support St. Rocco’s as much as we can because you never know who close to you might need hospice care in the future. We plan on taking part in future events and supporting the hospice together.”
“I got £100 donation through sharing about my fundraising on social media, which was amazing! My employer also runs a match funding scheme, so it was fantastic that they agreed to support St. Rocco’s and matched the £500 fundraising that we had already raised. I also work with the public in Warrington, and it’s lovely to see how generous people are when they hear that I’m fundraising for St. Rocco’s and want to show their support.”
This year’s 80’s themed, Neon Night Walk is taking place on Saturday 5th September with 20% discount of entry fees if you sign up before 17th July! Starting at the Halliwell Jones Stadium at 6.30pm with food, entertainment and a warmup before participants head off pm a 5km route around Warrington town centre, lighting up the streets in Neon.
Caroline and her family are already excited about taking part in this year’s event. As last year’s Neon Night Walk was so memorable and rewarding, they can’t wait to do it all over again and have plans to continue fundraising for St. Rocco’s at future events.
“I really enjoyed it; it gave me a good feeling to be doing it for a good reason and felt like a real achievement. I loved the walk it was nice, there was a really nice atmosphere, everyone was applauding and encouraging as they passed by. It was lovely to see the support from others and to know the money I raised was helping someone to receive the help they need at the hospice.” Isabelle.
