On Saturday 2nd August, Team Laura, made up of Leanne, Ange, Stephen, Shannon, Jennie, and Daisy took part in the Inflatable 5K course at Cheshire County Showground in memory of Laura, Ange's sister and Leanne and Stephen's Auntie, raising over £1130.86 for patient care at the Hospice. Although Daisy couldn’t take part due to injury, she still came along to cheer the team on and played a big part in the fundraising effort.

This isn’t the first time the family has fundraised for St. Rocco’s. In 2023, they took part in the Hospice Hike, and in 2022 they held a birthday fundraiser in honour of Laura’s 40th birthday. They’ve joined in with our annual Light Up a Life celebration, our Ruby Ribbon celebration and our Virtual Pet Competition. Many of Laura’s family are regular lottery players, and Stephen is currently a lottery collector, a role Leanne also held previously. Leanne and Ange are also signed up to volunteer at the upcoming Neon Night Walk on Saturday 13th September 2025. Their dedication to supporting the Hospice in so many different ways is remarkable and their ongoing commitment is appreciated by so many.

Why this event?
For Team Laura, this was about celebrating life and raising money in a way that felt joyful. Taking part in a fun challenge together as a family was a special way of remembering Laura whilst supporting St. Rocco’s.

What does St. Rocco’s mean to you?
Laura spent the last three months of her life at St. Rocco’s. The care she received, and the compassion shown to the whole family is something they will never forget. As the team says, “We know our support will make a difference, but for us, it could never be enough to repay this amazing place.”

Do you have a message for others considering getting involved in a fundraising event?
“Making a difference while taking on a personal challenge is a fantastic feeling, and when it is in memory of a loved one it makes it extra special. It can help bring meaning to something incredibly sad and create a legacy that helps those we have lost live on.”
