Meet Beverley Scott-Herron

What inspired you to support St. Rocco's this year?

Supporting St. Rocco's is a chance to give back to a cause that means a great deal to me. Having experienced first-hand the incredible care hospices provide, I know how much their compassion and support mean to families during life's toughest moments.

As a Headteacher, I encourage young people to embrace challenge and believe in themselves, so taking part is also about leading by example. Stepping outside my comfort zone while raising money for such an amazing charity is a privilege, and if I can inspire others along the way, that's an added bonus.

What's your previous dancing experience, and how are you feeling?

Let's just say my dancing is far more enthusiastic than polished! Most of my experience has been in the kitchen, although I did learn clog dancing as a child and have a real love of ceilidh dancing.

I'm excited, slightly terrified and ready to embrace the challenge. I love performing, but ballroom dancing is a whole new world. My plan is simple: work hard, smile lots and hope nobody spends too much time watching my feet!

What are you most looking forward to about the Strictly experience?

Everything! I'm looking forward to learning a new skill, making new friends and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Most of all, I'm excited to help raise money for St. Rocco's. Every rehearsal, every sore muscle and every nervous moment will be worth it if we can make a difference for such an incredible charity.

What song always gets you up and dancing?

Without question, September by Earth, Wind & Fire. As soon as it starts, I'm on the dance floor!

I also love 70s disco, Latin-inspired music and the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. My enthusiasm definitely outweighs my ability—but that's all part of the fun!
