Counselling & Emotional Care
Coming to terms with a palliative diagnosis and dealing with the loss of a loved one can be devastating and emotional support is an important part of the care St. Rocco’s Hospice offers to patients and carers.
The counselling and emotional care team (CAEC) provide personal counselling to our patients and their loved ones. Counselling is a therapeutic service included in the palliative care services of the hospice and sessions take place face to face in the hospice or via Zoom or telephone.
These sessions are run by our team of qualified councillors and requests for this can be made via our Warrington Integrated Palliative Care Hub.
Bereavement Support
The counselling team also offer bereavement support to the wider community via our two bereavement cafés each month and anyone grieving the loss of a loved one can drop in to a café and receive personal support from one of our trained volunteers.
At our free cafés you will be welcomed at the door and invited to sit with a volunteer to talk about your loss in confidence. We understand how hard bereavement is and we will listen with empathy and compassion in confidence.
Bereavement is difficult for many people and knowing there is someone to listen to your story at this time can help to lift the loneliness of grief.
There is no need to book in advance and both cafes have wheelchair access.
