Meet Chris Perkins

What inspired you to take part in support of St. Rocco's this year?

I'm already a trustee at St. Rocco's, so I've seen up close the incredible work the team does every day. But I wanted to show my support in a way that actually challenged me — not just turning up to board meetings. I've watched other people throw themselves into this and thought, right, it's my turn. Time to put myself out there.

What is your previous dance experience and how are you feeling about dancing?

Absolutely none. Zero. My sisters were dancers — ballet, tap, the lot — and somehow none of it rubbed off on me. My entire dance history is bouncing around on nightclub floors with no style, no grace, and absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm equal parts terrified and quietly excited. Mostly terrified.

What are you most looking forward to about the Strictly experience?

Genuinely learning something new. I've had a tough few years and this feels like a chance to do something bold, something positive — for St. Rocco's but also for myself. If I can stand in front of a room full of people and pull off ninety seconds of actual dancing, I'll walk away feeling like I can do anything. That means a lot to me right now.

What song always gets you up and dancing?

A Little Respect by Erasure. Every time, without fail. Put that on and I'm already on the dance floor before the first chorus. Anything from the eighties does it for me, but that's my song.
