What is Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy?

At St. Rocco’s we use Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy to address physical and psychological symptoms which can result from a life-limiting illness. We aim to support you to optimise your quality of life through supporting you to stay as well and independent as possible. 

Who is Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy for?

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy is for anyone whose quality of life can be improved through learning better how to manage their illness in terms of everyday living. We aim to maximise your independence and quality of life through providing personalised therapeutic interventions.

What is available?

There is a range of services available.

We will discuss your needs with you and assess what therapy would be most beneficial for you.

Breathlessness Management

This is a six week program which is aimed to reduce the impact of breathlessness on daily life, it is an individualised program with person centred goals, according to the needs of those attending. The program will include learning about diaphragmatic breathing, lifestyle and anxiety management and relaxation.

Fatigue Management

The one to one fatigue management course aims to support you to manage fatigue levels, a common symptom arising from living with a life-limiting illness.

The programme looks at areas including energy conservation, lifestyle management and relaxation so that you can get optimum value from everyday life.

Anxiety Management

Anxiety Management

Anxiety Management takes place on  a one to one basis and aims to support you to identify the symptoms and triggers of anxiety, allowing you to manage any anxiety better in your daily life.

Acupuncture

Through our Outpatient Clinic service our physiotherapist can provide Western medicine acupuncture which helps with controlling symptoms. This can help with relieving pain and anxiety.
