A Day in the life of a… Supporter Engagement Officer

About Me:

I’m Lisa and I am the Supporter Engagement Officer here at St. Rocco’s Hospice, and I have been part of the Supporter Care Team for over 2 years!

My role:

My main role within the hospice is to look after the day to day running of the St. Rocco’s Lottery. I manage the payments, run the weekly draw, communicate with players, and promote the lottery to the Warrington Community. As well as this, I am responsible for handling and counting the cash and cheques that come in from all areas of fundraising, thanking our supporters whether that be through an email, letter, or certificate.

A typical day:

My day to day roles are often quite structured, I have set days where tasks need to be completed, these include the Lottery Direct Debits, standing orders, organising new players, and completing the draw each Friday.

To grow and promote the St. Rocco’s Lottery, I will often attend events to encourage sign ups and ticket sales, and work alongside our retail shops across Warrington. As well as promoting the lottery, I also promote St. Rocco’s wedding favours, so you will often find me at wedding events where I can provide further information for individuals planning a wedding and how they can support the hospice on their special day.

One moment I will always remember:

An unforgettable moment for me was witnessing a patient leaving a donation of £15,000 to the hospice. Being part of the Supporter Care Team allows me to be privy to these amazing donations left by individuals who are cared for at St. Rocco’s, speaking to patients and hearing how much they appreciate their care is very fulfilling.

I recently took on the challenge of the Greater Manchester Swim, completing a 3-mile open water swim. I took this on as a personal challenge and raised over £1,000 for patient care at the Hospice.

What I love most about what I do:

I love knowing that my work directly contributes to funding patient care at the hospice. The lottery is a significant income stream, so it is crucial for me to acknowledge and thank those who support St. Rocco’s weekly, it fills me with joy to contact the winners and share the good news! I am part of a community that loves and supports the hospice, working alongside dedicated staff members, I witness firsthand the positive impacts we collectively make on the lives of patients and their families during challenging times.

My mum has worked on the Nursing Team for 25 years, so St. Rocco’s has always been a part of my life!
