Volunteer At The Inpatient Unit
Key tasks:
- To serve meals and collect trays afterwards.
- To keep patients’ water jugs replenished with iced water.
- To arrange and display flowers as required around the Hospice and to maintain the appearance of the flower arrangements.
- To make drinks for patients and visitors as required.
- To keep the beverage area clean and tidy, including washing up crockery after visitor’s drinks.
- To spend time talking to patients and relatives who require some company.
- To assist in maintaining a tidy environment with emphasis on safety eg. trip hazards, wet surfaces and to assist in keeping the surfaces clean
- To alert members of the nursing staff to patient’s needs eg. patient wants assistance in mobilising, sitting up, eating food and/or drinks.
- To make a drink for the nursing staff/doctor on occasions if busy
- and other duties as requested from time to time by the nursing staff or Voluntary Services Manager

Inpatient Unit volunteers report to the Inpatient Unit Sister and Voluntary Services Manager
