They were joined in the afternoon by family members, staff members and a patient from our inpatient unit.

RocON! is our innovative project working with schools from across Warrington to help children to learn more about St. Rocco's whilst helping them to explore issues aroung loss and dying. It is supported by Jan, our along with a team of volunteers, including patients.

The children from Woolston CE have been learning about the hospice and relating that to what they have been learning in school about becoming responsible members of their community. They shared what they had learned very effectively through speeches, song and poetry. They have made kindness stones, along with patients attending craft therapy and during the afternoon handed out items from ‘blessings baskets’ to everyone who attended.

Every child in the junior school at Woolston CE has now taken part in a RocON project. The staff at the school say that it has had a big effect on all the children and that they can still see that the projects have had a lasting effect on the children’s behaviour to each other and the way that they view their community. They are also all keen fundraisers for St. Rocco’s!

Below is pupil Bella’s poem from the celebration event:

Kindness is a delicate thing
that wraps around like
a blanket and secures
you safely, Building
a barrier for the remainder
of the day. You show
kindness to all of the
comunity and I am so
greatful!

(Spelling Bella’s own)
