Warrington Running Festival 2024

On Sunday 22nd September, thousands of runners gathered at Warrington Town Hall to take part in the 2024 Warrington Running Festival.  The event was organised by RunThrough who promote their goal as inspiring an active nation through the provision of inclusive and welcoming running events for everyone.

This year’s festival featured a 5k, a 10k, a half marathon, and a junior race and St Rocco’s were proud to be the headline charity partner of the event.

St Rocco’s were thrilled to offer 44 runners a free space at the event in return for raising money for the hospice.  Amongst these were teams from McDonalds and The Village Hotel.

Liam, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Rocco’s, took part this year and said, ‘I've run in the Warrington Running Festival before and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the route.  When I joined the hospice back in April it just made sense to run for St Rocco’s this year! They looked after my dad when he was ill so it's an amazing feeling to give back in some small way.’

The team at St Rocco’s would like to thank Cat Davies (CD Sports Massage) for giving up her time to provide pre and post run massages in return for a donation to the hospice, Brian Tuohey for the incredible photography, ASDA for supplying snacks, The Village Hotel for providing bottled water and Lilian, a volunteer at the hospice for helping at the event.  They would also like to thank everyone who sprinted, jogged or walked to raise money in memory of a loved one – some of these reasons are mentioned below:

St Rocco's took care of my sister.  She was only 41.

It's my mum's 10 year anniversary.

St Rocco's cared for my husband over 30 years ago.

I am taking part in the Northern Lights Trek next year so this was the perfect opportunity to start my fundraising.

The total raised so far stands at over £14,000.  This money will go directly to patient care at the hospice and will make a big difference to our patients and those that are special to them.
